Hello! I am an applied mathematician working under the advisement of Dr. Victor Ginting in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as a Ph.D. Candidate. My current work is on the applications of new and various numerical methods to the solutions of Partial Differential Equations, specifically to that of fluid flow in Porous Media.
Previously I worked with Dr. Shawn Ryan of Cleveland State University, at which time I earned a Masters of Science in Mathematics. Here, I studied the mathematical modeling, analysis, and simulations for several collective motion problems in Mathematical Biology.
During the course of earning my Bachelors and Master of Science degrees from Cleveland State University, I also studied to be an educator, as it has been one of my lifelong passions. Starting in 2016, I became an undergraduate teaching assistant to the Calculus program at the university. I was promoted to the lead teaching assistant the following year as a result of my engaging and informative lessons.
Later, when I would begin to teach as the Instructor of Record for the Calculus program, I would be named the Outstanding Graduate Student of the year (2019-2020). This was in contest with the entirety of Cleveland State, but was awarded to me as a result of my first two semesters of teaching. This award had never before been granted to a student of the Mathematics and Statistics department.
Teaching has been a major driving point in my career as a mathematician. It is my personal belief that all of mathematics should be accessible to anyone who has the drive to ask, no matter their literacy in the material. Furthermore I have found a love for research that enables me to explain the world around us using our mathematical toolset. This allows me to combine my love of teaching with the thrill of research to show my students just how important our maths are to the world as we understand it.
Originally I am from Cleveland Heights, Ohio and now currently reside in Laramie, Wyoming. In Laramie, I attend the same university that my grandfather and namesake attended several decades ago. The majority of my family has since moved from Cleveland Heights, but has stayed in the vicinity, taking up roots in Rome, Ohio and Jamestown, Pennsylvania.
While in Wyoming, I met my now fiancée, Lacey. The two of us spend most of our time wrangling our 10 year old Husky/Malamute mix named Lyle. We also enjoy the odd board game and reading to each other. My favorite activity for relaxation is to take walks in the park and go hiking with my family.
